Google’s Martin Splitt said the new GoogleBot has zero impact or was completely unrelated to the indexing bugs we saw back in April. He said “Fair question, but no” when I asked if they were related at all.

After I asked him about the timing and testing phases of the new GoogleBot, I asked if it was possible they were at all related. He said no.

At the 23:13 mark into the video:

Barry Schwartz: And the indexing bugs has nothing at all to do with this at all?

Martin Splitt: We’re talking indexing, not rendering. Fair question, but no.

I know these questions are small but the more we know, the more we can piece some things together and get a better picture of what is going on.
